Over the last two nights, the faculty bargaining team has held two provincewide bargaining update meetings, with over 2,400 faculty attendees in attendance. These meetings were in addition to the General Membership meetings that the team attended at seventeen different Union Locals over the last two weeks.
We are attaching the presentations from each of the two meetings. (The presentation on Dec. 7th focused specifically on Partial-Load issues.) We apologize that the short turnaround has prevented us from including translations of these presentations at this time.
Partial Load Faculty Meeting – December 7
All Faculty Meeting – December 8
We are also including the faculty team’s response to the CEC’s recent “Strike Vote FAQ”, in which we address some of the misleading statements that have recently been published by the CEC in advance of the strike mandate vote.
Response to CEC’s FAQ
The strike vote will run virtually from Thursday, December 9th at 9:00 AM until Saturday, December 11th at 3:00 P.M. It is conducted by the Ontario Labour Relations Board (OLRB). A FAQ about voting (including a phone number to call if you have any problems voting) can be found at:
College Faculty Strike Vote
In particular, we wish to remind Partial-Load faculty who teach at more than one college that they should only vote once, even if they receive different PINs for each workplace.
This strike vote is your clearest opportunity to inform the Employer that you stand behind faculty demands, and that you insist that the CEC address them meaningfully. We urge you to take advantage of that opportunity, and to reach out to your colleagues, to encourage them to do the same.
Yours in solidarity,
JP, Jonathan, Katie, Michelle, Ravi, Rebecca, and Shawn
